The obverse is inscribed w/ the year of issuance or minting, the word Liberty and phrase “In God We Trust”.

Then again, John Mercanti has presented a reverse design which portrays heraldic eagle behind a shield. On the left talon of the eagle, you’ll find that it is holding arrows while on the right are where the olive branch rests that also echoes the Great Seal of US. Just above the eagle, you’re going to find 35-pointed stars which represent the 13 Colonies. Then as you check on the back, you’ll find inscribed saying United States of America, 1oz Fine Silver

The legislation authorized for American Silver Eagle bullion program has stipulated that the silver used in minting the coins to be obtained from Defense National Stockpile along with the intent of depleting the stockpile’s silver holdings gradually for the following years.
